 Highly attractive and desirable black bamboo.  Culms come in green and mature into a rich shade of black. Shiny black culms with intermittent green stripes. The culms dry black after harvesting.

Bambusa lako is a thin walled, yet strong and fiber dense, bamboo with a very erect growth habit. Makes a good hedge for privacy.

Used for flute and furniture making, as well as light building. 

Shoots are edible.
